Curriculum
"We may grow..."
The newest curriculum, which has been prepared by our teachers in the year 1995 and 1996, is described in the form of Marshal Mannerheim´s oak. Marshal Mannerheim donated the oaks in the school-yard to the school in 1940's.
The main root is a home (koti). The other roots (the basis of life) are the own inheritence of culture (oma kulttuuriperintö), history (historia), school (koulu) and environment (elinympäristö).
Healthy living (terveet elämäntavat) is a trunk where branches and leaves fasten on to.
The leaves and branches are sociality (sosiaalisuus), acceptance of yourself and individuality (itsensä ja erilaisuuden hyväksyminen), diligence and joy to work (ahkeruus ja työnilo), skill of expression, creativity (ilmaisutaito, luovuus), the attitude of an explorer (tutkimusmatkailijan asenne) and physical and mental balance (fyysinen ja psyykkinen tasapaino).
The roots give strength and the basis for learning. The healthy living habits support the learning. Every leaf is somehow involved with everyday learning and teaching all the time. In different school years we however emphasise two or three leaves more than the others.
